Efficiency and Efficacy

The efficacy of a light guide of polyscale is based on the huge variety of possible types of structures and the respective wide range of possible optical designs. As shown in the chapter uniformity a diffusor layer is not necessary which gives additional efficiency for the system.
Increased efficiency in this case means either less energy input to reach a defined output or a maximized output with a defined input. This leads to either a cost reduction or an increased value of the final product. Also new applications with high demands can be realized which so far could not be served by common technolgies.
Additionally to the validation of the efficacy the ray angle influences the efficiency which leads to additional advantages through targeted light emission.
